Infrastructure Recovery Charge
The Victorian Government is investing $290 million in Revitalising Central Dandenong, the largest urban renewal project since creating Melbourne Docklands. The Revitalising Central Dandenong initiative is a partnership between the Victorian Government through VicUrban, and the City of Greater Dandenong.
As of September 1, 2006, all new commercial scale developments within the Revitalising Central Dandenong declared area will incur the infrastructure recovery charge (IRC) of 5% of development value.
This major urban development project including the high level of Government investment dedicated to it would not be possible without the opportunity for Government to recoup a portion of its investment.
